![]() ![]() General cultural engagement was the best predictor of environmental practices. Secondly, our study confirms that education relates positively to environmental practices, and more importantly shows that educational differences in cultural engagement can explain educational differences in environmental practices. The second and third respectively distinguish a traditional and folksy musical orientation from more contemporary and eclectic tastes, and highbrow culture from emerging forms of cultural capital. The primary distinction resides between the culturally engaged and disengaged. Firstly, we found three modes of cultural engagement. Against this background, we use data from the Flemish Survey on Socio-cultural Shift to (i) examine cultural engagement and distinction in Flanders though multiple correspondence analysis and (ii) investigate the relationship between people's cultural activities and their environmental practices through structural equation modelling. ![]() While previous studies have looked at educational attainment, we focus on another dimension of cultural capital i.e., cultural engagement. In this study, we approach environmental practices from a cultural point of view, focusing on the role of cultural capital. ![]()

Aided and mentored by the fictional Myrdhin, stymied by the historical Gildas, the royal sisters embark on their own journeys to become the people they were meant to be. When a mysterious warrior, Tristan, arrives at their father’s stronghold with urgent news about an imminent invasion by a dangerous Saxon king, a chain of events is set off that will affect the sisters in unimaginable ways. Sistersong centers around three sisters, children of King Cador of Dumnonia, whom Holland interprets as the sisters from the ballad “The Twa Sisters.” Riva is the eldest of the three, scarred for life by a fire Keyne, the middle child, battles with her family to be accepted for who she truly is and Sinne, the youngest, is spoiled and thoughtless in her pursuit of romance. ![]() Lucy Holland’s Sistersong examines several social and political topics through the fascinating lens of a forgotten character from a traditional folk ballad. Exploring the implications of these topics is similarly vital and, as readers of historical fiction well know, an ideal place to do so is within the pages of a book. ![]() Regardless of where one falls on the social or political spectrum, there is no escaping the fact that these topics are instrumental in shaping the cultural narrative. In modern society, it can feel nearly impossible to escape from news focusing on politics, social issues, or conflict. ![]() ![]() ![]() Radway's provocative approach combines reader-response criticism with anthropology and feminist psychology. Radway questions such claims, arguing that critical attention ""must shift from the text itself, taken in isolation, to the complex social event of reading."" She examines that event, from the complicated business of publishing and distribution to the individual reader's engagement with the text. They claim that romances enforce the woman reader's dependence on men and acceptance of the repressive ideology purveyed by popular culture. ![]() Among those who have disparaged romance reading are feminists, literary critics, and theorists of mass culture. Originally published in 1984, Reading the Romance challenges popular (and often demeaning) myths about why romantic fiction, one of publishing's most lucrative categories, captivates millions of women readers. ![]() ![]() ![]() Can this unlikely couple build a future together? It’s got to be such a distinct book on the stands. I only wanted to do the book if I could partner with someone who was going to bring that emotional, whimsical, superhero look to it. Gary brings such a wonderful emotional quality to all his work, but especially with Shazam, he captured those kids so well. I’d been wondering who would take over from Gary Frank on that project now that he’s busy with Doomsday Clock. ![]() Dale Eaglesham on Shazam is one of my favorite pieces of comic news so far this show. ![]() ![]() In the case of Tormented Discovery I ended up drawing two other images that I wanted to initially use for the cover, but they simply did not work out. ![]() Out of those drawings one would be suggested by my friends as the image for the next cover art. In between all my writing, I was drawing from time to time. While Tormented Discovery was going through editing, revising and publication prep I started on the book I'd wanted to write from the time I was typing the last pages of Finding Our Way. As my first book was being edited and published I was working on the second, Tormented Discovery and I could not wait to share it. Although Summer Escape was written and (perhaps regrettably) published in such a rigid form, it did what I wanted, being as people bought it and in turn then bought my book. When I finished Finding Our Way I wanted to have a short story to attract readers into getting, reading and in turn want to get my book. The other day, it was pointed out to me (again) that over the past year I have accomplished (and will accomplish) quite a lot. ![]() I just want to get this done first." My friends and family have been wonderful, each doing what they can to help out or make life easier on me so I have been able to accomplish so much. So many people in my life have been telling me to step back and take a break for months now. ![]() I decided to take a step back from social media in order to take a break and get my head together. Over the last couple of days, I have been doing a lot of thinking. ![]() ![]() presented in a distinctive way, combined with Yee’s vivid action scenes that take place in a familiar setting, will send readers searching for more tales about Sun Wukong.
